Self-Centering Vise for Universal Machining

Self-Centering Vise for Universal Machining

Dapra has introduced a new line of self-centering vises for universal machining.

Two models, the SC-125 and the SC-090, are specifically designed to meet the demands of workholding on 5-axis milling machines. The new high-precision vises are compact, tall and self-centering.

Parts are being held high above the vise bed, which gives the machine tool spindle access to virtually all sides of a workpiece. The self-centering feature allows all coordinates of the workpiece to be programmed from a common reference point.

Both vises are very compact and will fit into most of today's smaller 5-axis milling machines. The Dapra SC-125 has a width of 4.9" (125mm) and is only 13.8" (350mm) long, but can cold parts up to 10.78" (274mm). The smaller SC-090 has a jaw width of 3.9" (90mm), a length of 9.8" (250mm) and holds parts up to 7.5" (192mm). Both vises have a repeatability of .0004" and accuracy of ±0.001.

The spindle is designed to obtain clamping forces from 4000 to 8000 lbs.
